kid: He died. I'm sorry. [gives me side-hug]

Regarding more robust pets, I'll just say this: Clary B. was made to play the role of a fire droid in this morning's installment of Star Wars: The Backyard War. My 4-y.o. was all, "Nooooo! The fire droid is coming! We must defend from the enemy attacker!"
Poor child care pets.
